Research statement

Reflection upon the context

My research proposal will be based on how to improve the four-skills

needed to the comprehension in the English language to tenth-grade
students who are between the ages of 15 and 16. I decided to choose this
project since in the school where I work I want to prepare the students for
the ICFES test but also to make them able to present the TOEFL test and
achieve a higher score, which is why I need to increase the four-skills level of
the students.
Research question
What tools should be used both pedagogically and ICT tools that facilitate
the timely learning all four-skills within a literary context?

Objective
To help the students get ready in the use of the four-skills in any
environment is required creating an English environment in class.
Justification
The English teacher from the Nueva Andalucia School, plays an important
role in the teaching and learning process to the students; with the help of
research about their context, their families’ studies and their need, find a
pedagogical process to allow the students create an environment where
they can learn and practice the English as a Foreign Language, and be
prepared to present the ICFES as is required to graduated and also to
present the TOELF which mark at what level they are in listening,
speaking, reading and writing skills.

The purpose of this research is to find information of what tools and

learning process are the most appropriated to help the students to reach a
level where they can communicate using the four-skill levels.

Research Design
Action research: this project search for a transformation from the leering process according to the
needs of the students to assured an effective learning process, taking-action and doing what is
need to let the students create their own environment within English skills.

I would be doing the research meanwhile working with the students by critical reflection according
to the results given in a specific time.

The process to follow the recollected data from different research and, also from the process
during this research, then reporting the results to have a criteria in if the processes are being
effective of not.
