PROSTITUTION

Defined as the industry in which a


person provides sexual service to others
in exchange for money (Goodlin, 2009),
and the person who provides these
sexual services and receives payment is
known as “sex worker” or prostitute

1. STREETS

 In street prostitution, the prostitute


solicits customers while waiting at
street corners, sometimes called
"the track" by pimps and
prostitutes alike. They usually dress
in skimpy, provocative clothing,
regardless of the weather.

2. BROTHELS

 are establishments specifically


dedicated to prostitution, often
confined to special red-light
districts in big cities. Other
names for brothels include
bordello, whorehouse, cathouse,
knocking shop, and general
houses.

3. ESCORTS

 In escort prostitution, the


act takes place at the
customer's residence or
hotel room (referred to as
out-call), or at the escort's
residence or in a hotel room
rented for the occasion by
the escort (called in-call).

 Sex tourism is travel for


sexual intercourse with
prostitutes or to engage in
other sexual activity.

 Virtual sex, that is,


sexual acts conveyed by
messages rather than
physically, is also the
subject of commercial
transactions.

 A man who has a


continuing sexual
relationship with and
receives financial support
from a woman. A man who
is hired as an escort or a
dancing partner for a
woman.
BECOMING A PROSTITUTE…

Prostitution is given for some causes such


as:
• Lack of financial resources.
• Lack of moral values instilled.
• Low educational level.
• Family disintegration.
• Feelings of abandonment and
inferiority.
• Inability to establish satisfying
and heterosexual relationships.
• Mental deficiency.
CONSEQUENCES…

The consequences of prostitution are:


• Venereal diseases such as AIDS,
vaginal herpes, gonorrhea, etc..
• Lead to drug and alcohol
addictions.
• Precipitates mental weakness.
• Social rejection.
• Violation of the law.
• Unwanted pregnancies.
• Broken families

Dependence is defined as a compulsive
craving that develops as a result of
repeated administration of the drug
characterized by:
● Increased desire to take the drug
● Increasing dose to get the desired
effect
● An increasing effort to collect it
● Causing physical and
psychological dependence

1. PHYSICAL DEPENDENCE

 Is a biological phenomenon which


depends on type, dose, and duration
of drug use irrespective of the
personal factors and associated with
withdrawal syndrome.

2. PSYCHOLOGICAL
DEPENDENCE (drug habituation)

 Is a condition resulting from the


repeated consumption of a drug, in
which there is a psychological or NICOTINE
emotional dependency.
