• Low Vision is a condition caused by eye diseases, in which visual acuity is 6/18
(20/70) or poorer in the better-seeing eye and cannot be corrected or improved
with regular eyeglasses.
• The resolving power of the eye, or the ability to see two separate objects as
separate. The normal eye can resolve two objects as separate (with adequate
illumination and contrast) if they are separated by an angular distance of 1
minute of an arc.
• The Visual Field refers to the total area in which objects can be seen in the side
(peripheral) vision as you focus your eyes on a central point.
• A condition that exists during both monocular and binocular vision in which an
off-foveal point in the retina of the deviating eye is used for fixation.
• Low Vision Aids are tools that help those with vision loss to maximize their
remaining vision and these devices fall into one of three broad categories:
Optical aids, Non-optical aids, Electronic devices.

• Persons report that they have vision in specified sectors of the visual field and
parts of the object to be viewed are always missing. Common losses include;
• General contraction or depression object in the periphery are not seen.
• Hemianopia
• Scotoma
• Persons with this condition sees floaters or spots before their eyes, which
momentarily interferes with vision. Such symptoms may indicate an acute
pathology.
