1.ABSTRACT

 The present work focused on the effect of synthetic fiber (nylon) orientation that
reinforced polymeric matrix in composite to understand the mechanical behavior of
these materials during work conditions.
 Tensile test, impact test and bending test were performed and discussed for (0 o , 30
o , 45 o , 60 o , and 90 o ) angles of fibers orientation. The Taguchi method (using mini
tab) was used to study the behavior of these compounds.
 The previous results showed that the extension and deflection values were higher at
(0o ) and decreased with increasing fiber angle orientation until reached to a lower
value at perpendicular state between fibers and applied loads.
 The study is used to improve the mechanical properties of the composite materials
depending on the fiber orientation angle.
2. INTRODUCTION

COMPOSITE:
 Composite materials are materials made from two or more constituent materials with
specific different physical or chemical properties that when combined produce a
material with characteristics different from the individual components.
 The individual components remain separate and distinct from the finished component.
 The new material may be desired for many reasons, such as stronger, lighter, and less
expensive when compared to other materials and that makes it an important and
suitable alternative for multiple uses in order to get a certain mechanical behavior of
materials.
 Composite materials are generally used for buildings, bridges, and structures such as
boat hulls, swimming pool panels, racing car bodies, shower stalls, bathtubs, storage
tanks, imitation granite and cultured marble sinks and countertops.
3. OBJECTIVES

We had analyzed many journals from that we came to know about Taguchi method
with the guidance of our guide we are going to make sample piece of the composite
material with the different fiber orientation angle. the main objective of our project is to
test the impact load and hardness of the composite material fabricated using nylon fiber
with epoxy resin the mechanical properties of the composite material are analyzed using
izod impact test and brinell hardness number. from that the best orientatiion for various
sequence are selected and concluded.

6. EXISTING SYSTEM
 There are many exsisting specimens in fiber reinforced composite with both natural
and artificial fibers.
 The type of fibers
Jute
Flax
Hemp
Nylon...
 The existing specimen posses various properties according to their structure,
composition etc ...
 Various tests like Bending, Impact, Tensile, composition, strength to weight ratio for
the existing composite material.
7.PROPOSED SYSTEM
 We frabicate the specimen using nylon and epoxy resin with different fiber
orientation angle.
 As many tests have been conducted in the existing system we are conducting
impact and hardness test .
 To obtain the results for the various combination we use Taguchi method in Mini
tab software .
 The impact load and the tensile strength of the nylon are higher than other natural
natural fibers so we propose this material with nylon.
8.Hardware requirements

 Epoxy resin HY556

 Hardener HY951

 Synthetic Nylon

 Mould
9. APPLICATIONS
 As this specimen is tested for hardness and impact loads this can be used for the
application which requires these factors.

 This can be used in the field of aerospace, automobile, production of plastic goods
etc... which requires the above mentioned factors.
