STORY:

The Boy Who

Cried Wolf
Story
In a country far away, there lived a young
shepherd boy with his family. His dad worked in
the farm. His mum worked in the house. The
shepherd boy took care of the sheep.
One day, he got bored and wanted to play a
prank on his neighbours. He yelled “Wolf!
Wolf! The wolf is eating the sheep!” All the
neighbours came to help, but they realized it
was a prank. The shepherd laughed at them.
The neighbours went back home, talking
about how badly he behaved.
The next day, the boy did it again. “Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is eating
the sheep!” The neighbours came running, but found the shepherd
boy laughing at them again!
On the third day, the boy yelled again for help
because a real wolf came. No one went since
they thought it was a joke.

The young shepherd boy was very sad, but he

learned a very important lesson:

If we tell lies, the day will come when neither our

parents, our brothers and sisters, nor our friends
will believe what we say, even when it is the
truth!
DISCUSSION:
How can we be TRUTHFUL?
● I should tell the truth with courage at all times,
even if I find it is difficult to do so.
● I believe that God is aware of all our actions and
we cannot hide anything from Him.
● Truthfulness builds bond of love and trust.
Without trust, there is confusion, sadness and
disunity.
● I must be truthful to be able to develop other
virtues and attain nearness to God.
