Math in day-to-day life
Math is all around us, it is everywhere we go. Its in our kitchen, in our house and in our surroundings. Every
single moment of our life requires knowledge of math. Not only does Math underline every process and
pattern that occurs in the world around us, but also, a good understanding of it will help enormously in our
everyday life. Math is unavoidable, it’s a deeply fundamental thing. Without Math, there would be no science,
no music and no art.
Math is good for the brain
• Solving math problems will be a good exercise to keep
our brain healthy and active.
• Students who solve math problems in their daily life
have higher logical skills.

Saves Money

• Math helps us to make financial budget and also to

calculate sale/ offer/ discount prices while shopping.
• It also helps us to calculate the risk before investing
money in some financial scheme.
Math in Arts
• When doing any form of art, you are using math.
• Whether you are a sculptor, a painter, a dancer or even just doing a collage for fun, you
will have to measure, count and apply basic math to it.
• Every form of math is co-dependent upon math skills.

Math in Kitchen
• In cooking, idea of proportionality can be used to make exact quantity of
food that we want by cutting all sorts of vegetables and fruits into right
fractions.
• If we want to make a cake of 1kg but in recipe book there is a recipe of 2kg
of cake, then idea of proportionality is important.
Math in career

• There is no profession in the world that doesn’t use math.

• Scientists and engineers use math to perform their daily

tasks.

• From blue-collar factory workers to the managerial level

white-collar professionals, everyone uses math in their
work. Finance analysis and cost estimation are part of
every business.

• The importance of mathematics is not just limited to the

mathematician; even a fashion designer, a chef, a tailor, a
barber, all these careers require mathematics knowledge.
Math in our home
• Everything we do inside and outside of our home needs math
skills like painting our house, placing tiles, deciding the
dimensions of furniture and rugs to match the area of our rooms,
using different geometric patterns on the wall for decoration,
landscaping and gardening.

Banking
• Bank is full of transactions, which is nothing but mathematics

• With some good understanding of simple and compound interest, we can

manage the way our money grows.

• Banks are also involved in bond calculations and stock options which are
quite mathematical.
Math for Fitness
• With the proper understanding of math, we can calculate how much food
(calorie intake) we require in our daily life and how much time we should
exercise to keep our body fit and healthy

Time Management
• Time management is the key to success for everyone

• With the help of math we can make a wise decision on how we

can spend our time effectively
Math in Nature
• Fibonacci spiral - we see in nature in the form of shells
and the shape of hurricanes.

• Fractals make up many aspects of our world, including

the leaves of ferns, tree branches, the branching of
neurons in our brain, and coastlines

• Concentric circles – Ripples of a pond when something

hits the surface of the water, layers of an onion and the
rings of trees that form as it grows and ages.

• Hexagons – Bee hive

• Natural patterns include symmetries, trees, spirals,

meanders, waves, foams, tessellations, cracks and stripes.
Statistics
• Statistics, which is a branch of Maths, has wide application like weather
forecasts, medical study, quality testing, stock market, to predict any natural
disaster that may happen shortly, to help a sport person to get the idea about
his/her performance in a particular sports etc.

Geometry
• Geometry has many practical uses in everyday life like measuring
circumference, area and volume, when you need to build or create
something.

• Geometric shapes are used in drawing, construction, making video

games, designing sports grounds as well as sports equipment,
quilting and food design
Without Mathematics life would be
pointless.

The essence of Mathematics is its

freedom!
