ANTHROPOLOGICAL RESEARCH
•An end product of anthropological research, if carried out
properly is a coherent statement about a people, their
beliefs, behaviours or biology of those studied.

“This entails the exploration of ideas, theories and
problems that have been either neglected or unidentified.
The purpose of this type of the research is to uncover new
knowledge and understandings.
TYPES OF
ANTHROPOLOGICAL

Synchronic research: Description of a culture at one
period in time.
Diachronic Research: Studies of changes in a culture
over time
Ethno-historic Research: the study of past cultures
using written accounts and other documents
Ethnographic Research: research on living people
Ethnographic Fieldwork: collecting information from
living people about their way of life, living with them for
extended time limit, should have knowledge of their
language and practices.
