Parts of the sentence
1. Subject (the doer of the action)
The person or thing who does something.
Example: He always cooks dinner.

2. Verb (predicate)
The word that expresses an action or state )
Example: He always cooks dinner.

3. Object (the person or thing that receives the action of the verb)
It is the who or what that is affected by the action of the verb
Example: He always cooks dinner.
Word Order
• Subject + Verb + Object

• Jane + writes + books.


• The dog + eats + bones.
• They + deliver + mail.
Position of adverbs in a sentence
• Adverbs can be used in three positions in a
sentence:
1. In the beginning of the sentence
Example: Sometimes we go fishing.
2. In the middle of the sentence.
Example: We never watch action movies.
3. In the end of the sentence.
Example: The baby is sleeping upstairs.
