Ilina describes how her city of Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, has changed from the past to the present. While Skopje is now a modern city with malls, high buildings, and green parks, it did not used to have as many shops or large fountains in the city center. Additionally, people in the past had to physically go to work rather than working from home like today, and there were fewer cars on the roads as public transportation was more common.

Hello! My name is Ilina and I am going to tell you about my city. I live in Skopje, which is the capital of Macedonia, and it is also the largest city in the country. I love Skopje because it is a very modern city. We have a lot of malls, high buildings and beautiful green parks everywhere. But it wasn’t always like that. For example in the past Skopje didn’t have so many shops or big fountains in the centre of the city like we do now. In the past people had to go to work, and now we can work and study from home. Also, people didn’t have so many cars, like we do now. A lot of people went to work by bus, and they travelled a lot. We have big screen TVs and smart phones, and people and the past had small black and white TVs, and home phones. But I think in the past our city was cleaner and the people were happier.
