A Compound Nouns is a noun that

is made up of two or more words.

Nouns)
Noun+Noun (ex: Newspaper, toothpaste, bedcover)
Noun+Verb (roadshow, rainfall, milkshake)
Noun+adjecive (snow white, truckful)
Verb+Noun (dance floor, swimming pool,
Adjective+Noun (whiteboard, full moon)
Noun+prepositional phrase (Hanger on, daughter-
in-law)
Preposition+Noun (In house, Offline)
Open or spaced : space
between words
Close : no space o hyphen
between words
Hyphenated : hyphen
between words
1) Open : tennis court, ice cream, living room,
full moon, real estate, dinner table, human
right, etc.

1) Closed : notebook, superman, bookstore,


fireman, boyfriend, etc.

2) Hyphenated : six-pack, long-term, dining-


table, dry-cleaning, etc.
The main stress is usually on the first part (e.g, parking
meter) but sometimes it is on both parts (e.g, mother
tongue) Example :

- Market place
