Early morning preferably. Private place away from disturbance. Specific area for consistency. To make God so real in our life by: a. Praying – talking to Him. b. Reading His words – He talking to us. c. Meditation – Pondering upon His message. In order for us to know God, it is necessary to spend a consistent time with Him. “In the morning O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectations.” Time alone with God – is the core of our priorities. King David’s prayer (Psalm 5:3) Mrs. EG White’s admonition in the Desire of Ages, 83 says… “It would be well for us to spend a thoughtful hour each day in contemplatio To some, 5 minutes of personal devotion is too short, to others 10 minutes is too long, so let us settle for 7 minutes then. 1. Have your Bible ready the night before. 2. Decide for place and time. 3. Have alarm clock. 4. Start after meeting your personal needs. 1. First ½ minute: Prepare your heart, thank Him for the good night’s rest and opportunities for the new day. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance for wisdom. 2. Next 4 minutes: Read the Bible. Your greatest need is to hear some words from God. Don’t race. Read for pure joy of reading allowing God to speak to you. Perhaps, just 5 to 20 verses or a short chapter. Meditate on what you’ve read. 3. Last 2 ½ minutes: Prayer. After allowing God to talk to us through the reading of His words and meditation, then we should speak to Him. Covenant with Him now to guard, nourish and maintain your morning devotional time of 7 minutes. “Lord, I want to meet You first thing in the morning for at least 7 minutes, tomorrow, when my alarm clock goes off at ____, I have an
