Still (evil) things come Bibi
from long ago
into being through the god Bibi.

Naville: Oh thou Phallus of Ra, who fliest from the storm, disablement ariseth from Baba
Budge: Hail, manhood of Ra, which advanceth and beateth down opposition ; things which
have been without movement for millions of years come into being through the god Baba.
Faulkner: O you phallus of Re, this which is injured by uproar, whose inertness came into
being through Babai,

T G Allen
I’m far from an expert on this, but I think that you are being misled by the rather free
modern translations. Assuming that I have found the correct bit in Budge(p110) I
would roughly translate the phrase as ‘if nothing evil is done to me by the rebels in
binding the horns, (then) the phallus of Re will not be swallowed’. In this situation the
‘if’ is given by the ir. I think that this is the situation covered by Allen in 18.12.
I think that the more recent translators have inverted to phrase to avoid a double
negative.
So I think that ‘ir nn’ is not ‘if’, but is closer to ‘if verb x does not happen’.
Hope this helps, and approximates to something close to the correct answe

Naville: [Baba]who useth against me might beyond the mighty and power beyond the powerful
Budge: Hereby am I made stronger than the strong, and hereby have I more power than they who are
mighty
Faulkner:I am stronger thereby than the strong ones, I am mightier thereby than the mighty ones.

in binding the horns, then the phallus of Re and the head Osiris will not be swallowed .

Naville: if all evil and injurious things of a feast day of fiends are perpetrated upon me through the waving of the Two
Horns, then shall be devoured the Phallus of Ra and the Head of Osiris.

Budge: Another Chapter: So then shall no evil things be done unto me by the fiends, neither shall I be gored by the
horns [of Khepera] ; and the manhood of Ra, which is the head of Osiris, shall not be swallowed up.
Faulkner: If I be ferried over and taken to the East with bound horns, or if any injury be done to me by rebels, I will
swallow up the phallus of Re and the head of Osiris,

CT spell 548, the operator threatens to “bind the

horns of Khepri” to prevent being “taken and David Strike
ferried over to the east” to be slain, i.e. to die
again. Here the threat is to arrest change itself.
NOT TO FERRY A MAN TD THE EAST IN THE REALM OF THE DEAD. O you phallus of Re which goes awry for
him in uproar, the inertness of which comes into being through Babi, may I be stronger thereby than the
strong ones. Mightier thereby than the mighty ones. If I be taken and ferried over to the east in order to
carry out wrongful slaying on me in the festival of those who rebel against me by smiling my horns, I will
swallow for myself the phallus of Re and the head of Osiris when I have been guided to the tomb of the
decapitation of the gods that they may make answer there. I will bind the horns of Khepri, I will create a
stone in the eye of the Destroyer, if I be taken, and if l be ferried across to the East and if the festival of
those who rebel be celebrated over me.

Budge:I enter into my homestead, and I reap the harvest. The gods speak with me. Gore thou not them,
O Ra-khepera. In very truth sickness shall not arise in the eye of Tmu
Faulkner: I will be guided to the tomb of the decapitation of the gods in which they make answer; I will
