Iskola Magyarország 2612 Kosd Bocskai u. 1 06(30)713-2788 E-mail: rekatodor@freemail.hu Preparatory teacher: Lackóné Vajda Edit THE AUTHOR Robert Louis Stevenson - was born in Edinburgh on 13 November 1850 - after studying, he started travelling - in France, he met Fanny Vandegrift Osbourne, later he married her - they bought some land on Upolu, and lived there - he died when he was 44 Books that he wrote - Treasure Island (1883) - Kidnapped (1886) - The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1886) - The Master of Ballantrae(1889) - Weir of Hermiston was the last book he worked on, he felt that this is the best -he never finished his last book, because he died of bleeding in the brain Main characters Dr Henry Jekyll Edward Hyde - he is a doctor with a big - people feel very bad when reputation they’re next to him - he wanted to separate his two - he made of pure evil sides Dr Hastie Lanyon Gabriel Utterson - he is a doctor, he is Jekyll’s - he is a lawyer, he is and Utterson’s good friend one of Dr Jekyll’s - he was shocked seeing Hyde friends turned to Jekyll Poole - he is Jekyll’s faithful servant for many years Chapter 1-3 Utterson heard from his cousin, Richard Enfield a story about Hyde. Utterson was worried about Jekyll, he wrote his will which said Hyde inherits all his property. The lawyer went to Hyde to talk with him, but Hyde went angry. Then Utterson visited Jekyll but the doctor wasn’t at home. Chapter 4-6 Jekyll and Utterson talked about Jekyll’s will. One year later Hyde murdered Sir Danvers Carew. Inspector Newcomen and Utterson went to Hyde’s house in Soho. Utterson went to Jekyll, who gave the lawyer a letter from Hyde. Mr Guest compared the handwriting of the letter and the invitation to the dinner. They were similar just differently sloped. Chapter 7-9 Dr Jekyll was at peace for a while, but then he refused to see anyone. Dr Lanyon was shocked, he looked nearly dead. Poole and Utterson went to Jekyll’s house, they found Hyde dead on the floor. Dr Lanyon saw Hyde turning into Jekyll, that’s why he was shocked. Chapter 10 Jekyll was born in a wealthy family. He often found it hard to obey society’s rules. He became a doctor and he started experimenting with chemicals. He wanted to separate his two sides. He turned into Hyde, and did bad things. After all he couldn’t control Hyde, then he killed himself with poison. The moral The book’s message is that you can separate your good and bad side. Don’t let your bad side overcome your good side. My own opinion
I liked the story and I completely agreed
with the book’s message. I can warmly recommend this for everyone. Just be in peace and let your good side prevail. Sources R.L.
