Operational Management of the bank is being handled by a team of
10 professionals. This team is also headed by Mr. Muhammad

Branch Departmentalization
The process of grouping individuals into separate units and departments to facilitate the
accomplishment of organizational goals is known as departmentalization.,
departmentalization is done on pure functional basis. In the functional form of
departmentalization, people and resources having a common activity to support are
grouped together. Functions performed by some important departments of MCB

The opening of an account is the establishment of banker customer relationship. Before a
banker opens a new account, the banker should determine the prospective customer’s
integrity, respectability, occupation and the nature of business by the introductory
references given at the time of account opening.
Cash Department
Cash department performs the following functions
Receipt
The money, which either comes or goes out from the bank, its record should be kept.
Cash department performs this function. The deposits of all customers of the bank are
controlled by means of ledger accounts. Every customer has its own ledger account and
have separate ledger cards.
Payments
It is a banker’s primary contract to repay money received for this customer’s account
usually by honoring his cheques.
Cheques and their Payment
The Negotiable Instruments. Act, 1881, “Cheque if a bill of exchange drawn on a specified
banker and not expressed to be payable otherwise than on demand”. Since a cheque has
been declared to be a bill of exchange, it must have all its characteristics as mentioned in
Section 5 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Therefore, one can say that a cheque
can be defined as an:
“An unconditional order in writing drawn on a specified banker, signed by the drawer,
requiring the banker to pay on demand a sum certain in money to, or to the order of, a
specified person or to the bearer, and which does not order any act to be done in addition to
the payment of money”. (Law of Banking by Dr. Hart, p.327).
Advances Department
Advances department is one of the most sensitive and important departments of the bank.
The major portion of the profit is earned through this department. The job of this
department is to make proposals about the loans. The Credit Management Division of Head

Our professor gave us an assignment to visit bank and make a report on it.
What you observe, what you like and dislike in bank? We went to the MCB BANK
THOKAR Branch and after spending a day in bank and observing their work
environment ,we could say that it’s the best services an individual could gain. A
bank
has everything that is needed for an average citizen. It includes the transfer of
money, quick cash loans , deposits, cheques , etc. All at one place thus saving time
and money by providing everything right in one place. There is an entire staff
facility in the bank that was ready to help whatever possible. The positive attitude
of the employees gave enormous confidence to the clients to deal with the bank
again aside from that, the bank also have various facilities like net banking ,
digital banking bank playing a vital role in the economy by providing means of
payment and mobilizing resources. Bank is the most important financial institution
in the economic development of a country. Dependingon the development of
banking sector today’s modern banks are not only providing traditional banking
but also expending the many financials services. In today’s world the lives of the
people directly are within the arena of banking .
Bank provides necessary funds for executing various programs in the process of
economic development. They collect savings from large masses of people scattered
throughout the country , which in the
absence of banks would have remained ideal and unproductive, these scattered
amounts are collected and pooled together and made available to commerce and
industry for meeting the financial requirements.
We observed that people come into bank and wait for their number and when the
number was came they were going to collect cash , deposit cash and what ever they
want to do. The section was totally covered. And also there was a personal office,
that was the office of the branchmanager(BM) . A manager who was the head of that
branch we were going to the managers room the room was covered with glass the
manager talk to us very rudely.He said why both of you came without university
permission letter after some conversation we handled the situation and take all the
data regarding deposit products, financing products, etc. The environment of the
bank wasvery polite. There were different cabins of employees like operation
manager(BOM), accounts manager and others employees .

bank. Third section was cash counter the cash counter employees issuing cash
and taking cash from customers and they were also accepting bills(of Gas,
Electricity ,Water.) the bank have ATM facility the customer come and make cash
withdrawl or funds transfer from ATM this is very helpful for those who have
urgency.
