Introduction
Sonargaon was the capital of the ancient kingdom
ruled by Isa Khan of Bengal. Bengal is now divided
into West Bengal, which is a state in India and
Eastern Bengal, which is the nation of Bangladesh.
Sonargaon was known as “The City of Panam”.

BACKGROUND

The most glorious period of


Sonargaon began in 1338 AD
when it emerged to have been the
capital of the earliest independent
sultanat of Bengal founded by
Fakhruddin Mubarak shah.
Sonargaon is located near the old
course of the Brahmaputra River.
Naming History :
The name Sonargaon originated with the
ancient term of Suvarnagrama. Sonargaon
was ruled by Vanga and Samatata Kingdoms
during antiquity. The Sena dynasty used the
area as a base. The Deva dynasty King
Dasharathadeva shifted his capital from
Bikrampur to Suvarnagrama in the middle of
the 13th century.
SONARGAON SORDAR BARI -

Sonargaon Museum was established by


the famous painter Joynul Abedin in 1975
on an old house called Bara Sardar Bari. It
Located inside thr folk Arts and Crafts
foundation,It was originally established on
this building after doing some simple
renovation.

A new museum has been built later inside the Folk art and crafts
foundation, where mainly the rich culture
Of fabrics in Sonargaon is being displayed. This area was very
famous for its production of the finest quality
Hand made saris, muslin is the most famous of all.
Most attractive place “Panam nagar”

Panam City is situated at  Sonargaon, Narayangnj,


in Bangladesh.It is an extremely
ancient historical city in Bangladesh. It was the most attractive
tourist spot in Sonargaon.Panam
Nagar was founded at Sonargaon in
the early 19th century during british rule in the sub cortinent as
a trading center of cotton fabrics.
CONCLUSION
Today, many people still visit the historic
city of Sonargaon. They are attracted by
its immense beauty
and by the ruins of buildings and relics
that
date back to the era of Bengal.
The Goaldia Mosque is situated in the
Goaldi village and is a wonderful example
of an ancient Sonargaon building.
