KETONE?
an organic compound containing a carbonyl 
functional group bridging two groups of atoms.
Ketones and aldehydes are simple compounds
that contain a carbonyl group (a carbon-oxygen
double bond).

COMMON NAMING RULES
•Common name is given by the alkyl
groups attached to the carbonyl group
(alphabetical order) followed by
ketone.
IUPAC NAMING RULES
•In the IUPAC system we replace (e) from an "alkane”
with (one).
•The numbering is determined from the end point nearest
to the carbonyl group.
• Root name is based on the longest possible chain.
