STUDENT DECLARATION AND COMMITMENT FORM

In light of the application of technological advances in architecture education:

I declare on my honor that all the written works that I shall submit in this course were exclusively done by
me and that, excluding quotations, no part has been copied original work already presented in the academic
field by other authors. In the case of parts taken from other sources, I have expressly and directly cited the
references that I used. In the case of work done within a group of learners where this is allowed and/or
provided for, I have also clearly and unequivocally indicated the contributions of each learner. I also
declare that I have taken note of the sanctions with regards plagiarism and that I commit myself to uphold
academic integrity in everything that I do related to this course, consistent with our Thomasian ideals and
values.

I acknowledge that I have read and fully understood

the aforesaid declaration and I freely and voluntarily accept it.

STUDENT DECLARATION AND COMMITMENT FORM

I am aware that being a learner in this course, my facilitators and co-learners will have access to my
personal data available in the course site. I am also aware that, as part of the quality assurance
mechanisms of my academic unit, administrative and academic officials may conduct random visits
of this course site and our learning sessions in order to observe our classes. I understand that they
may have access to data on my academic performance in the course so they may use these to help
determine any additional support I may need in order to successfully complete all course
requirements and meet set standards.
I acknowledge that I have read and fully understood
the aforesaid declaration and I freely and voluntarily accept it.

Basic Definition:
What is Site Planning?

Site Planning
is the art of arranging structures on the land and shaping the
spaces between, an art linked to architecture, engineering, landscape
architecture and city planning.

It is the organization of the external physical environment

to accommodate human behavior.

It deals with the qualities and locations of structures, land,

activities and living things.

Basic Definition:
What is Site Planning?

It creates a pattern of those elements in space and time,

which will be subject to continuous future management and
change.

The technical output - the grading plans, utility layouts,

survey locations, planting plans, sketches, diagrams, and
specifications - are simply a conventional way of specifying this
complex organization.

Site Planning by Kevin Lynch, (3rd Edition) Massachusetts: The MIT Press, 1984.
Basic Definition:
What is Site Planning?
Site planning occurs within
an environmental and cultural
context.

Sustainable approaches to site

planning attempt to minimize
development impacts both on the site
and off-site.

Vital environmental processes must

be protected and, where feasible,
degraded ecosystems restored.

Site Investigation and Analysis

After a thorough analysis of the site and after all conclusions have
been studied, it is then possible to determine whether
the land is suitable for the proposed use.

If the land is found suitable, the data should be analyzed further

to establish other specific parameters of the site.

Site Planning:
Survey

Survey
is a checklist of information or data pertaining to a site.
It aims to increase the level of understanding about the site and
its relation to the analysis of the problem.

Information would be gathered continuously as the problem

develops.

Site Planning by Kevin Lynch, (3rd Edition) Massachusetts: The MIT Press, 1984.
Site Planning:
Survey
Survey is basically understanding the do’s and don’ts, negotiables
and non-negotiable’s, and are based on the rational decision-
making process of the designer
