 Introduction to Digitizer
1. Digitizer is an input device which converts analog information into digital form.

Digitizer can convert a signal from the television or camera into a series of numbers
2. that could be stored in a computer.

They can be used by the computer to create a picture of whatever the camera had been
3. pointed at.
 Digitizer is also known as Tablet or Graphics Tablet as it converts
4. graphics and pictorial data into binary inputs..

A graphic tablet as digitizer is used for fine works of drawing and

5. image manipulation applications

Some of the examples of digitizers are digital camera, digital tablets,

6. scanner etc.
 Digital Camera
A digital camera is a digitizer. Light enters through the camera lens, and the
1. hardware and software inside the camera converts that information to binary data,
and stores it an image file.

The user may then transfer the file to a computer, where he or she can edit the
2. image, print it out, or share it online.
 Digital Tablet
A tablet is a computing device that is controlled with a finger or a digital pen called a stylus. A
1. tablet is usually larger than a smartphone, but smaller than a computer monitor.

The user can write, draw, and paint by touching the tablet. Software converts the analog touch
2. input to lines or pressure-sensitive brush strokes in a document.

The software may also perform handwriting recognition to convert handwritten text to typewritten
3. words. When dealing with graphics these tablets are often referred to as a graphics tablet.
 Advantages:
1. Drawing can easily be changed.

2. It provides the capability of interactive graphics.

Disadvantages:
1. Costly

Suitable only for applications which required high-

resolution graphics.
