INTENSIVE FISH SEED REARING

• High stocking of Early fry for rearing.

• Use of artificial/formulated feeds
contain 35 - 40 % of crude Protein.
• The feeds should be Nutritionally
balanced.
• It provides Nutrients for optimal growth.

13
INTENSIVE FISH SEED REARING

• Good and high quality feed improves

the quality of the seeds
• To increase the survival rate
• The produced seeds all are in uniform
size
• To increase the number of cycles.

b. Good Management Practices (GMP)
a. Pre stocking
i. Liming
ii.Organic Manuring
iii.Aeration
b.Stocking of Quality EF seeds

Specifications for
Intensive IMC Fish Seed Rearing

Type of Rearing Area RCC – Cement Cistern

Dimension (20 x 15 x 1.2) m
Area 300 m2
Volume 360 m3
Bottom Clay Coating 3 to 6 inches
Storage Capacity 3.6 Lakh Litres
(360 tonnes)

18
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION
• To dry the CC bottom followed by tilling
and levelling
• To scrap the walls and do White wash
by two coatings in all the four sides
• To check the soil pH and apply Shell
lime based on the pH value (7.0 to 7.2)
• Mix the soil with Vermi-compost of
initial dosage –15.0 kg
19
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• To fill the water by using filter bag of

P-60 mesh
• To raise the water level up to 1.2 m
• To close all the inlet & outlet
provisions to make it as a leak proof
• This type of rearing method is
known as closed system
20
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• Chlorination – Apply CaOCl2 @ 25 ppm –

(9.0 kg)
• To ensure the available Chlorine between

30 to 33% (Prefer ISI Brands)

• To kill all types of flora and fauna
• To kill both beneficial & pathogenic
21
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• Initial aeration is used to mix the CaOCl2

uniformly & allowed to settle for one day

• To prevent the entry of Aquatic insects
by covering the entire CC by using
mosquitoes net
• For Dechlorination, the CC are to be
aerated continuously for next 3 days

25
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION
• To test the CC waters for residual Chlorine,
to ensure that the water is free from Cl2.
•To check water pH (7.5 to 8.0)
• If the water pH < 7.5 then again to add
shell lime of required quantity
• If the water pH > 8.5 then to add pH fixers

26
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• To broad cast the Vermicompost as a

second dose of 15 kg

• To add Agrimin 5 to 7.5 kg as initial dose

and aerate for uniform mixing

27
DETAILS OF AGRIMIN

Co, Cu, I, Fe, Mg, Mn,

K, Se, Na, S, Zn, Ca, P

DL – Methionine

L – Lysine Mono HCl

28
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• Add freshly prepared Probiotics-I ,

total 72 litres in 3 split doses once in

15 days (40 +17+15)

• Continuous aeration for next five days
results, Biofloc will be developed
• To check the water quality parameters 29
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• If necessary, add another 2.5 to 5.00 kg as

second dose Agrimin and CoCl2 @ 0.5 ppm

in 3 split doses at the interval of 15 days

• Stock 3 days old Early Fry @ 5000 Nos/m2
• EF stocking density @ 4670 Nos/m3
• Ensure stocked EF seeds are free from
30
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

• The EFs are fed with supplementary

feed 4 times a day in split doses by
mixing Agrimin 5 g/kg of feed.
• 6 am , 10 am, 2 pm & 6 pm (10 pm)
• While feeding stop the aeration
• The mash feed protein level is between
35 to 40%
31
CEMENT CISTERNS PREPARATION

•To check Biofloc concentration once in

a week and maintain the water
transparency level between 20 to 25 cm
• While harvesting FL, Prefer scooping/
cotton threaded cash net of fine mesh
instead of dragging
• Reuse the same water for next two cycles
