CHAIN RULE

DIFFERENTIAT
ION
WHAT IS
CHAIN
RULE?
l Chain rule is a formula for
computing the derivatives of the
composition of two or more
function.
l It help us to diffrentiate
composite function.
RULE:
If f(x)= f(g(x)), THEN THE
DIRIVATIVE IS

F' (x)= f' (g(x)) • g' (x)

or for short, [f(g)]' = f' g • g'
f' (g(x)) • g' (x)
