-Her father acceded to the throne on the abdication of


his brother Edward VIII in 1936
- Elizabeth's only sibling, Princess Margaret, was born
in 1930. They were educated at home under the
supervision of their mother and their governess Lessons
concentrated on history, language, literature and music.
-Elizabeth met her future husband,
Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark,
in 1934 and 1937. In July 1939,
Elizabeth,13, said she fell in love with
Philip and they began to exchange
letters. She was 21 when their
engagement was officially announced on
9 July 1947. Elizabeth and Philip were
married on 20 November 1947. at
Westminster Abbey.
The coronation was on 2 June 1953. The
ceremony in Westminster Abbey, was
televised for the first time. Elizabeth
ascended the throne at the age of 25, upon
the death of her father. There were 14
months of preparation. There were 8,000
guests invited from across the
Commonwealth of Nations. That even was
celebrated all across the Queen's realms,
the rest of the Commonwealth, and in
other parts of the world.
She has four children,

Princess Anne, Prince
