Highlights Of Workshop
 ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) approved 2 days hands-on workshop.

 Organized by KJ Somaiya College of Engineering(Autonomous College Affiliated to University of Mumbai)

 Eminent Speakers from Industry(Eigen Technologies, QualNet ) and Academia(Faculty members from IITs)

 Objective of workshop is to bring together practitioners and researchers from both academia and industry on
a common platform

 Workshop aims to provide hands-on experience to the participants on recent tools and/or platforms for
implementation(SENSEnut) and simulation of WSNs and IoT(QualNet/Exata)
What Is IoT?
 The Internet of things (IoT) is the network of objects embedded with electronics, software,
sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these objects to connect and exchange data.
 A thing, in the context of the Internet of things (IoT), is an entity that has a unique identifier and
the ability to transfer data over a network.

How do I choose the right sensor?

 Type of Sensing

 Composition of Target

 Distance to Target

 Battery Life

 Size

 Cost
IoT gateway
 An Internet of Things (IoT) gateway is a physical device that serves as the connection point between the cloud and
controllers, sensors and intelligent devices
 A gateway provides a place to pre-process that data locally at the edge before sending it on to the cloud.
 Another benefit of an IoT gateway is that it can provide additional security for the IoT network and the data it
transports.
