[1905-1919]

Each years causes of events and how it affected them;

• Event: Division of Bengal into two smaller provinces; East and West
Bengal
• Effects: The Muslims were in the favour of this partition relieving them
from the conditions of Hindu leadership.
• However, the Hindus believed that it had no effect on the administrative
efficiency and the Hindus weren’t in its favour.
Events:
In 1906:
• Shimla Deputation causes
• formation of Muslim League was done.
• Morley decided that he should take advantage of their good relations with
the Muslims and try to get their support for the British Rule.
Simla Deputation
• A deputation of prominent Muslims led by the Aga Khan; their demands
were set out known as the SIMLA DEPUTATION.
• All local and provincial elections Muslims should have their own
representatives who would only be elected by Muslim voters.
• Muslims should have a higher percentage of seats then their population.
• Although John Morley didn’t approve of the Muslims statements, Lord
Minto agreed to separate representation for the Muslims.
