Typical information that a decision support application might
gather, and present would be:
Comparative sales figures between one week and the next
Projected revenue figures based on new product sales assumptions
The consequences of different decision alternatives, given past
experience in a context that is described
Decision Making: selecting the best solution from two or more alternatives
the procedures for obtaining the best (or at least a good enough) solution are known.
Semi-structured
Semi-structured problems fall between structured and unstructured problems, having some
structured elements and some unstructured elements. e.g., trading bonds, setting marketing
budgets for consumer products, and performing capital acquisition analysis as semi-structured
problems.
Highly unstructured (i.e., nonprogrammed)
An unstructured problem is one where the articulation of the problem or the solution approach may
be unstructured in itself.
