States of Matter
 What is matter?
Matter- is anything that
occupies space and has
volume and mass. It is made
up of molecules. All the
things that you can see, smell,
touch and feel are matter.
 Matterhas three states

1. solid
2. liquid
3. gas

A solid’s particles are packed closely together.
The forces between the particles are strong
enough that the particles cannot move freely;
solid has a definite shape, color, size, texture.
Example of solids are: chair, pencil, rock, table,
bottle etc.
*LIQUID
A liquid is a state of matter that have definite

but has volume.
Example of liquids are gasoline, water, soft
drinks etc.
