Balance Exercises
UB- PE- Fitness Class
Balance training is often neglected when people are developing their fitness
regime.

This may be because they don’t understand the benefits of balance training.
Balance is the ability to control your body’s position,
Balance training involves doing exercises that strengthen the muscles that help
keep you upright, including your legs and core.

These kinds of exercises can improve stability and help prevent falls.
Stork Balance
● Stand with your feet hip-width apart.
● Press your weight into both feet firmly and evenly.
● Transfer your weight onto your left foot and lift your right foot.
● Hold for up to 60 seconds each leg.
● Slowly lower your left foot to the floor and repeat
● on the other side.

In 1 minute perform the proper execution and number of repetitions of our Stork balance exercise. Below is
the Criteria for your score in this activity.

The student should present a video of him/herself performing the proper execution and complete repetition of
the exercise.

55 secs - 1 minute 20 Excellent

45 secs- 54 secs 18 Very Good

35 secs- 44 secs 16 Good

34 secs and below 14 Fair/ Needs Improvement


Standing Oblique Crunch
● Stand with your feet hip-width apart, fingertips at your ears and elbows out wide.

● Without rotating your hips, stand and bring that same leg up to meet the same side
elbow for an oblique crunch.

● Do 15 reps, and then switch legs.
