•Research a river near your residence and observe how it looks.

• The polluted river had already been declared
dead as early as 1992.
• The river traverses Mandaue City, Cebu City
and the municipality of Consolacion
• The Butuanon River tested positive for the
poliovirus on February 15.

polluted river.
• Solid waste is indiscriminately dumped into the
river.
• Untreated domestic and industrial wastewater is
also discharged into the river.

• The current situation of most rivers in Cebu is that they
are polluted and used as trash Sites by settlers in the
area.
• Feces and dirt is indiscriminately dumped into the river.
• Untreated domestic and industrial wastewater is also
discharged into the river.
SOME TIPS TO REDUCE RIVER (WATER) POLLUTION
1. DO NOT DUMP IN OR AROUND RIVERS

2. CLEAN AND MAINTAIN SEPTIC SYSTEMS PROPERLY

3. FOLLOW ALL WATER LAWS AND REGULATIONS

4. DISPOSE OF PESTICIDES AND CHEMICALS PROPERLY

5. NEVER POUR COOKING FATS AND OILS DOWN THE SINK

6. REFRAIN FROM USING BLEACH WHEN WASHING AT HOME

7. CLEAN UP YOUR YARD REGULARY

8. EDUCATE EDUCATE EDUCATE
