• 1. ACTS (Public Act)

• These are statutes that have been enacted by the following:


• PHILIPPINE COMMISSION
• PHILIPPINE LEGISLATURE
• PHILIPPINE ASSEMBLY

• In the year 1932, laws and statutes enacted by the legislative body of the Philippine
legislature were called Acts.
• e.g. Act No. 3827 declaring the last Sunday of August of every year as an official holiday
to be known as National Heroes Day. Approved on October 28, 2001

2. COMMONWEALTH ACTS (C.A.)


• These are statutes that have been enacted by the following:
• National Assemblies (1st and 2nd) from 1935 to 1941
• Commonwealth Congresses (1st and 2nd) from 1944 to 1946

• e.g. Commonwealth Act No. 616, an act to punish espionage and other offenses against
the national security section.

• These are statutes that have been enacted by the following:
• Congress of the Philippines

• e.g. Republic Act 386 or the Civil Code of the Philippines

• These are statutes that have been enacted by the following:
• President Ferdinand Marcos during the period of Martial Law
• President Corazon Aquino during the period of Interregnum and Freedom Constitution

• e.g. Presidential Decree 1152 or the Philippine Environment Code

• These are statutes that have been enacted by the following:

• These are statutes that have been enacted by the:
• President of the Philippines

• e.g. Executive Order No. 292, an order that instituted Administrative Code of 1987
