Staying Power

James 1:1-8
Introduction

•Writing to a scattered congregation,

James pleads for God’s people to
persevere and in so doing prove their
faith genuine.
1. Rejoice Instead of Complain (vv.
2-3). We must have a different
attitude when things are rough.
2. Stay Instead of Run (v. 4). We
must give a different response when
resistance arises.
3. Pray for Wisdom Instead of
Deliverance (vv. 5-7). We must make
a different request when we are
challenged.
Conclusion

•We are called to perseverance. Difficult

times will come but we must trust that
Jesus is who He says He is. Our race will
be marked with trials, resistance, and
challenges, but we serve a God who
provides joy, strength, and wisdom.
