PATHOGENESIS
O Ingestion of T. solium eggs or proglottid rupture
within the host intestine can cause larvae to migrate
into host tissue and cause cysticercosis.

CASE OF STUDY
A 25-year-old woman with history of living in pig raising area
was admitted because of worsening headaches. At first the
doctor predicted it as a normal headache because of prolonged
exposure to sunlight.
Neurocysticercosis
Ophthalmic cysticercosis
Subcutaneous cysticercosis
DIAGNOSIS
Biopsy of infected tissue
Examination of faeces
Radiologicaltest
[e.g X-ray, CT scans, MRIs]
X-ray
to visualize calcified lesions in brain and
muscles
TREATMENT
Albendazole [combine with steroid]
[400mg twice/day for 15 days and can be repeated]
