FOR THE NATION

BY – ABHISHEK SHUKLA
WHAT IS CAA

 CAA provides citizenship to non Muslims ( Hindus, Christians, Paresis Buddhists, Jains and

Sikhs)of the neighbouring countries ( Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh ).

 CAA is associated with the citizenship of the country.

 CAA is for those who are forced to seek shelter in India due to persecution on the grounds of

religion.
 The act aims to protect these people from proceedings against them in the claim of illegal

migration.

 The Non -Muslims of these countries ( Afghanistan , Pakistan and Bangladesh ) are facing lots

of trouble in there countries cause they are minorities there .

 There life is miserable in there countries.

 The citizenship is allocated to those who came to India before 31st December 2014 and are Non

–Muslims.

 CAA is nationwide.
WHAT IS NRC

 NRC stands for the national register of citizen .

 NRC is only for Assam and is not nationwide.

 It deals with identification of the citizens of our country , by listing out the names of the citizen

in the national register.

 According to the order of the supreme court in 2013 it was required for the people of Assam to

prove their citizenship prior to 24th march 1971.

 From 33 million population of Assam the 1.9 million names were missing from the NRC list.

 It detects ,deletes and expel foreigners who come to Assam on or after 24th March 1971 on an

immediate basis.
WHY THE CAA AND NRC ARE NEEDED ?

 We need CAA so that the minorities that is the non Muslims living in our neighbouring

countries ( Afghanistan , Pakistan and Bangladesh ) a miserable life can get the citizenship of

India.

 The legislation will benefit the marginalized and give them a dignified and respectful life.

 The NRC is important for national security as these illegal immigrants can be a great threat for

the nation .
ADVANTAGES OF CAA & NRC
 The benefit of the act is that migration of the communities to India from the three countries would be

pardoned.

 They could apply for Indian citizenship if they can demonstrate a physical presence in India for 5

years.

 The NRC will lead to the identification of illegal migrants.

 The identified illegal migrants will be barred from voting in election.

 The government would be sending a message to the future illegal migrants that they are not welcomed.
CONCLUSION
Both the CAA and NRC are different from each other and both are necessary for us.

CAA is needed so that we can help the marginalized communities of our neighbouring countries

and NRC is needed to stop illegal migration and infiltration in our country .
