The coconut tree grows all over
Malaysia especially on the sandy beaches.
It is a very useful tree.

The coconut shell is hard. It can be


used to make handicrafts.
Topic 1: Coconut Tree

The flesh inside is white and sweet. The


coconut juice is sweet and good to drink.
We use coconut milk for cooking curry and
making delicious local cakes. We can also
get cooking oil from the coconut milk.
The trunk of the tree is used for
making bridges. Besides that, the leaves
are used to make brooms and ‘ketupat’
casing.

Topic 2: Calendar and Time
In our calendar, one year is made up of twelve
months. April, June, September and November
have 30days. January, March, May, July, August,
October and December have 31 days each.
February has 28 days. In a leap year, February
has 29 days. There are 365 days in a year and 366
days in a leap year.
Seven days make a week. A day has 24 hours and
an hour has 60 minutes. There are 60 seconds in a
minute.

Topic 3: The Ship of the Desert
The camel is called the “Ship of the
Desert’. It is because it can travel very far
than other animals, so it is use as transport.
It provides meat and milk for us. Its dry
droppings are used as fuel. A thirsty camel
can drink up to one hundred liters of water
in just ten minutes. It can last a week
without water.
