Reflection
+ 1.What specific subject concepts and skills where taught and how taught?
- Some subject concepts that were taught is how to explain and describe different types of music
using the 10 sections shown on the website which rhythm, tempo, harmony, melody,
instrumentation, dynamic, texture, genre, form, and temperature of the music. The skills there
were taught was how to apply this information learned about describing music and applying it to
different anthem songs. This was taught by going over an example of how to do it and letting
them test their knowledge on how well they understood the concept.
+ 2.What specific multicultural knowledge, skills, etc. were achieved?
- The multicultural knowledge that they achieved is experiencing listening to other countries
anthem and comparing it to the US which gives them something to relate to. Then also having
them write a positive thing about each country song promotes positive of another cultures that is
not their own.
Reflection
+ 3. Evaluate the level of active student learning during the “Instruction-learning process.
- I would say a high level of active learning will be happening for the students during the introduction,
mini lesson and guided practice because that is where all the key concepts and skills are going to be
explained and that is going to be vital for them to be successful during this activity. Now going into the
Independent practice, I would say medium level because they now have an example that they can follow
but still have room to produce their own description and use of the concepts they have at hand. For the
exit tick I would say the least amount of active learning because if the lesson is successful and served its
purpose then the student should have a good understanding of the concepts and skills that they learned
throughout the lesson which would be shown in their exit ticket.
+ 4.Lastly, list the strengths and weaknesses of the multicultural activity.
- Strengths: It gives students an opportunity to observe another culture anthem, gives them a better
understanding of how to describe music with new terms, it also relates to them because incorporating he
US anthem
- Weakness: The lack of other cultures music being involved, the process make be a little rushed because
of heavy information needed to be teach and shown, and maybe hard to catch interest with students with
dealing with the anthems of countries versus regular songs
