• Teacher's Day was first established when Dr.Sarvepalli RadhaKrishnan was made the second president of India in 1962 and first vice president of India when his students approached him and wanted to celebrate this special day. But then, Dr. Radhakrishnan requested them to mark this day to recognise the contribution and efforts of teachers in our society. Since 1962, his birthday has been celebrated in India as Teachers' Day on 5 September every year. He is the only President of India who could not attend the Delhi Republic Day parade due to his ill health.
