LISTENING - is the ability to accurately
receive and interpret messages in the communication
process. Listening is key to all communication.
LISTENING SKILLS
 Pay attention
 Show that you’re listening
 Provide feedback
 Deferred judgement
 Respond appropriately
Paying attention – to others when they
speak is a sign of respect and a skill that will lead to
deeper and better relationships.
Show that you’re listening – is the
way you nod your head ,smile and make small noises like
“yes” to show that you’re listening and encourage the speaker
to continue.
Provide feedback – when we listen to
someone, speak to them, give a particular response ,like or
dislike something, we are making a feedback to a task.
Deferred judgement – the defendant
enters a plea of guilty and completes a probation period. In a
deferred judgement the plea of guilty is withdrawn , therefore, you
have not plead guilty to a crime.
Respond appropriately – we need to do
nodding, short verbal prompts (such as “hmm” or “yep”),
eye contact ,asking questions , a positive body positions
( such as leaning forward).
VISUAL COMMUNICATION – is the use of
visual elements to convey ideas and information which include but are
not limited to signs, typography, drawing, graphic design, illustration,
industrial design, advertising, animation, and electric resources.

Infographics - are graphic visual representations
of information, data, or knowledge intended to present
information quickly and clearly.
Process diagram - is a diagram commonly
used in chemical and process engineering to indicate the
general flow of plant processes and equipment.
Flow charts - is a type of diagram that
represents a workflow or process. A flowchart can also be
defined as a diagrammatic representation of an algorithm, a
step-by-step approach to solving a task.
Roadmaps -is a flexible planning technique to
support strategic and long-range planning, by matching short-
term and long-term goals with specific technology solutions.
Chart and graphs – a chart is a graphical
representation for data visualization, in which the data is
represented by symbols, such as bars in a bar chart, lines in a line
chart, or slices in a pie chart.
Visual report - a report based on the aircrew’s visual
observation that answer specific questions regarding the target
for which the sortie was sent.
Presentation - conveys information from a speaker to
an audience. Presentations are typically demonstrations,
introduction, lecture, or speech meant to inform, persuade,
inspire, motivate, build goodwill, or present a new idea/product.
Mind maps - mind mapping is an effective means to
take notes and brainstorm essay topics.
A mind map involves writing down a central theme and thinking
of new and related ideas which radiate out from the central.
