Organizers, Titles, Non-linear Illustrations, etc. on the
Understanding of a Text
TEXTUAL AIDS
 are educational instruments that could be written texts,
or printed texts and other ways of emphasizing the
essential phrases, thoughts, graphs, or images
 provides support and facilitate understanding of texts
 most of the time are graphical outlines or images

Non-linear Text – are explanations or descriptions of the
words, usually those writings with visuals, diagrams or an
info graphic.
Some examples include flowcharts, charts, and graphs
(ex: pie chart, bar graphs), graphical organizers such as
knowledge maps and story map
DIFFERENT TEXTUAL AIDS
 I. GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
-integrate both text and visuals. This
has been scientifically proven to be an
effective way of teaching and
learning.
DIFFERENT TEXTUAL AIDS
 GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
-Help visualize or present information in a way that is
easier to comprehend
-Help develop cognitive skills such as brainstorming,
critical and creative thinking, categorizing and
prioritizing content, reflection, -Help recall prior
knowledge about a subject and quickly connect it to new
information
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
 1.Venn Diagram – It comprises of
two overlapping circles, and shows
all the possible logical relationships
between a set of items. Introduction
by John Venn in 1980.
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
 2.Concept Map – It is a diagram that
depicts suggested relationships
between concepts. It organize
conceptual information in the process
of defining a word.
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER

 3. Flow Chat – It is a picture of the

separate steps of a process in
sequential order. It describe various
processes.
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
 4. Tree Diagram- is a chart that begins
with one central item and then
branches into more and keeps
branching until the line of inquiry
begun with the central item is
exhausted.
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER
 5. Problem-Solution Map (cause and
effect) a relationship between events or
things, where one is the result of the
other or others, displays the nature of
problem and how it can be solved.
TYPES OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZER

TYPES OF GRAPHS
TYPES OF GRAPHS
 Line Graph – A common type of
chart which displays information as a
series of data points connected by
straight line segments to show trends
TYPES OF GRAPHS
 Bar Graph – A common type of
chart which presents data with
rectangular bars that differ in their
sizes. It is usually scaled so all the
data could fit on the chart.
TYPES OF GRAPHS
 Pie Graph – A circular chart
which is divided into slices or
portions to illustrate proportion.
TYPES OF GRAPHS
 Histogram - A graphical distribution
of the distribution of numerical data.
It has no gaps between the bars.
