Countable nouns are for things we can count

Most of the nouns are countable.


You can combine them with numbers one, two, three…
They usually have a singular and plural form.
dogs horses
Uncountable nouns are for the things that we cannot
count
tea sugar

water rice

They are often the names for abstract ideas or qualities.

Example: knowledge, beauty, anger, fear, love.


They do not have a plural form.

We cannot say: teas sugars waters rices

If you want to express a quantity, you have to use a special


phrase.
We can’t use “a/an” + uncountable
