KINDS OF OPTICAL ILLUSIONS
There are three types of Optical Illusions:

Literal Illusion;

Cognitive Illusion;

Physiological.

L ITERAL ILLUSIONS : imagem
 In this Illusion two or more objects togheter create another one.

 For example, in this Picture we have a lot of boats forming a state.

 This Picture is called as “The sun sets sail” by Rob Gonsalves.

C OGNITIVE ILLUSIONS:
 In the cognitive, we have forms and perceptions been changed by the Illusion
effect.

 On this one, we have a lot of “sub-cognitive effects”:

Fictional;
Ambiguous;

Paradoxal;
geometric-
optics.
FICTIONAL EFFECT:

 Here we have an effect of allucination,

creating a sense that exist something in the
image, but it isn’t there.

 A good example for that is the fake square

formed from those “Pac-Mans”.
AMBIGUOUS EFFECT:

 It happens When we have more than one

alternative of view. It can change according
to how we look to the Picture.

 As an example, we have the Rubin's vase by

Edgar Rubin.

 Here we can see two faces, or, a vase.

PARADOXAL EFFECT:

 It occurs When impossible pictures or

objects were created.

 For example, the Pen Rose triangle, it’s an

infinite triangle form.
GEOMETRICAL-OPTICAL
ILLUSION EFFECT:

 It’s happens as a consequence of distortions

of the format of the object or Picture.

 The best example for this case is the Café

Wall by Richard Gregory.

 Here we can see stranges horizontal lines

caused by the effect, but When we look the
lines, it’s perfectly correct.
 PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECT:
 In this Illusion, our brain is stimulated by
movements, lights and flashes.
