HELLO, CLASS!

I am

Bachelor of Elementary
Education
I believe that,

“ICT opens numerous

opportunities to build
effective communication, gain
valuable information, and
create great innovations.”
LET’S HAVE SOME PUZZLES!

START
IMPACTS OF ICT IN THE SOCIETY
The development of Information Communication Technology
has strong potential to transform economies and societies in several
ways, such as reducing information and transaction costs, creating
new collaborative platforms, promoting innovations, and improving
education and access to basic services.
Innovation seems to be everywhere in the lives of consumers, in
industry and service production processes, as well as in public
sector tasks.
POSITIVE IMPACTS OF ICT
Faster Communication Speed
• With the internet, news or messages
are sent via e-mail to friends business
partners or to anyone efficiently. Any
information can travel fast at an
instant. It saves time and is
inexpensive.
Lower Communication Cost
• Using the internet is cost-
effective than the other modes of
communication such as
telephone, mailing or courier
service. It allows people to have
access to large amounts of data at
a very low cost. The cost of
connection to the Internet is
relatively cheap.
Reliable Mode of Communication
• Computers are reliable.
With the internet,
information should be
accessed from anywhere at
anytime. However, if the
data passed to the computer
is faulty, the results will be
faulty as well.
Paperless Environment
• Data and information can be
store and retrieved through
the digital medium instead of
paper. Online
communications via emails,
online chat and instant
messaging also helps in
creating the paperless
environment.
Effective Sharing of Information
• With the advancement
of ICT, information can
be shared by people all
around the world.
People can share and
exchange opinions,
news and information
through discussion
groups, mailing list and
forums on the internet.
Borderless Communication

• Internet offers fast

information retrieval,
interactivity, accessibility, and
versatility. It has become
borderless sources for services
and information. Through the
Internet, information and
communication can be
borderless.
Emergence of E-Commerce
• E-commerce helps in boosting the economy. It makes buying
and selling activities easier, more efficient, and faster.
• Purchasing online saves time and cost as they don’t have to go
to any outlets.
• Can keep track of the transactions, all products can be barcoded
which helps in determining prices and managing inventory.
• Can ask immediately for inquiries; sellers could easily give
updates to their customers.
Innovation in Education
ICT allows…
• Teachers to research for teaching
materials, participate online forums, and
online conferences.
• Students to browse and gather information,
and reference tool.
• Researchers to collect and process data.
• School administrators to run the entire
educational operation smoothly.
NEGATIVE IMPACTS OF ICT
Social Problems
• There are some negative effects of ICT.
Nowadays, people tend to choose online
communication rather than having real time
conversations. People tend to become more
individualistic and introvert.

Another negative effects of ICT are:

IDENTITY
FRAUD THEFT
PORNOGR HACKIN
APHY G
Health Problems
• A computer may harm users if
they use it for long hours
frequently, Computer users
are also exposed to bad
posture, eyestrain, physical
and mental stress. In order to
solve the health problems, an
ergonomic environment can
be introduced. For example:
an ergonomic chair reduces
back strain and a screen filter
ICT plays a significant role in developing socioeconomic and
technical aspects of the society. It builds good relationship and
healthy communication with foreign people or with loved ones
outside the country, it helps education sectors to discover
effective learning strategy and instructional materials that will
give the students’ valuable experience, it creates more
opportunities for workers, it helps in organizing and
systematizing documents/files, and it opens various innovative
industries. On the other hand, excessive use of ICT could harm
the social life and health of an individual.
With these, we have to appreciate all the advantages that ICT
has offered to us and we should know our limits and avoid
exploiting others. Use our privileges (such as technology and
ICT) responsibly and wisely. Let us use ICT in a creative,
productive and effective way to contribute meaningfully to our
society.
