What’s new in this version (7) of the presentation?
Delete this slide before presenting
This is the new Mendeley Basic Training presentation. It’s based entirely on the new Mendeley Reference Manager and Mendeley Cite
applications. The previous training presentation was based on Mendeley Desktop and the Citation plug-in. While these earlier applications are still
available for download, they are no longer being developed, and users will want to transition to using the new applications over the course of the
next year to take advantage of the ongoing development. There will be ample time to transition: we will provide regular communication about when
Mendeley Desktop and the citation plug-in will no longer be supported.

Please review the Notes carefully in advance of your next training session and let us know if you have any specific questions by emailing
community@mendeley.com.

Specific changes to this version:

 All the images are from the new Mendeley Reference Manager, Mendeley Cite and Mendeley Web Importer, as well as
Mendeley.com (the website).
 Likewise, the Mendeley logo, colors and other visual branding in this presentation are current. The dark red Mendeley logo
is from before 2018. Please contact us if you need image files for your promotion purposes.
 The presenter’s notes on each slide provide basic instruction on the current features. For detailed instruction, please refer to
the online Help Guides.
 This presentation covers the same key functions as previously, such as organizing a library, reading and annotating, citation
while writing and other features. However, some features have changed in the new applications, so a different way of working is
described. Some key examples:
- The section on Collaboration presents Groups in the new private-only format and discusses the new real-time
collaboration features.
- Searching for literature in the Mendeley Catalogue is no longer accessed through the desktop app.
- Removed references to Mendeley Profiles, Funding, Public Groups/Feed and social networking aspects that were
discontinued in 2020. You can read about that here.
- Also removed mentions of the retired Mobile app. Read about that here. Users can access their library through the web
version of Mendeley.
- Mendeley Careers and Mendeley Data have their own presentations on the Advisor Resource Page.
- Introduces how to provide feedback to the software development team and find user support.
