To become the largest private healthcare and
medical testing group in Asia.

Our Mission
To be the leader in our business of providing
technologically-advanced healthcare services
and products to satisfy the needs of the
community.

Corporate Creed

Providing excellent service is our goal

Blending Precision Technology With
Professional Skills
Being the largest chain of private laboratories in
Malaysia, producing quality results has always
been and remains our top most priority.

Their Hallmark - Accurate & Swift Results

Their services cover a wide range of laboratory
and pathological tests to cater to every need.
With their commitment to excellence, their
painstakingly ensure that all tests are carried out
with utmost care and precision to achieve
accurate and swift results.
Laboratory Personnel
Their laboratory personnel are experienced, and are
specialised in their respective fields. Continuous training
is strongly emphasized for all their staff either through in-
house programmes or participation in scientific forums
and workshops.

Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Since 1999, all Pathlab branches are connected via an
advanced Laboratory Information System with the HQ
Main Laboratory. Pathlab Clinic Clients are also able to
do E-checking of test results speedily and conveniently.
The First Fully Automated Laboratory
Pathlab is the first laboratory in Malaysia to introduce
automation in its testing of clinical chemistry and
immunochemistry with the Advia WorkCell System.
•Reduces Processing Time
The bar-coded sample is scanned and automatically
channeled to the machine for testing - no manual sorting
required. This reduces the time to obtaining the results
by reducing the number of steps needed to sort, process
and archive samples.
•Increases Productivity
The individual analyzers can function independently,
allowing uninterrupted processing. The streamline
sample handling significantly reduces the number of
staff required.
Reagents & Methods Used
Prior to selection, every reagent will be subjected to
stringent evaluation by their own laboratory and based
on evaluation reports by other independent testing
centres. Testing methods are selected based on their
universal acceptance or recognized performance. Only
those reagents & methods approved by our technical
committee may be used at all branches.
This standardization helps to ensure a consistent quality
for all customers and allows for much better operational
administration. It also provides for better negotiation of
prices due to bulk purchase power and hence ultimately
benefits our customers.
Equipment & Instrumentation
The robotic sampler (Tecan Genesis System 5) is designed to handle high
volume sample pipetting. The use of automated instruments to perform
testing is also advantageous for reasons of consistency and accuracy.
Reagent or sample delivery, incubation time or temperature, are all
controlled by microprocessors. Also, these computerized systems are
simple to calibrate and their performance easily monitored through the
various QC programmes that they have implemented.
EQA and Internal Quality Control Programme
This QC programme covers all the tests performed at our branches using
various instruments.
The results from each branch are carefully analysed by the Technical
Committee to ensure they perform within expectation. Besides the internal
QA programme, their HQ also participates in an external programme, the
Randox International Quality Assessment Scheme. This programme helps
to establish a peer ranking of their lab performance for the type of
instrument and the type of reagents used in their lab.
Average Pay
•During its national employment survey of 2009, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
reported that the average annual salary for a medical laboratory technician was $37,860.
Calculated from pay information supplied by 152,420 individuals, this is equivalent to a
monthly income of $3,155 and an hourly average of $18.20. Technicians are likely to
receive additional benefits such as health insurance coverage and paid vacations.
Pay by Industry
•Medical laboratory assistants work across various sectors of the health-care industry
and pay levels differ among these sectors. The Bureau ranked junior colleges as the
sector with the highest average salaries -- $48,040 -- followed by scientific research and
development services -- $41,610. Similar wages were available to individuals working
within federal government agencies and home health care services -- $40,610 and
$40,130, respectively -- while medical and diagnostic laboratories paid an average of just
$35,590.
Pay by Location
•Location also affects technician salaries. Pay comparison website SalaryExpert.com, in
its 2011 analysis of pay for the occupation in certain major cities, found the best rates to
be in New York, New York -- $45,933 -- and the lowest in Miami, Florida -- $28,970. The
Bureau of Labor Statistics listed Rhode Island as the most lucrative state for a technician
to work in, with an annual average of $55,490. In contrast, Georgia was listed at
$32,060. It also listed the Champaign, Urbana area of Illinois as the metropolitan district
with the highest average pay across all industry sectors -- $62,410 -- with Jackson,
Tennessee listed at just $24,500.
Outlook

•Estimates published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics

put employment growth for medical laboratory
technicians, and their immediate superiors,
technologists, at approximately 14 percent during the
decade from 2008 to 2018. This is faster growth than
predicted across all industries in the U.S. -- expected to
be between 7 and 13 percent over the period.
Technological advancements in testing procedures
combined with an increasing population will fuel this
growth. As a result, medical laboratory technician should
continue to receive competitive rates of pay.
