 Foreword
 As more and more end stations in the form of host devices, networkable pr
inters other similar products are introduced into the local area network, an
increase in the density of devices results in a limitation in terms of port inte
rfaces, along with problems of collisions within any shared network topolo
gy. Switching has evolved as the means for supporting this growth. VRP is
used within Huawei products as a means to configure and operate such ma
naged devices for which familiarity and hands-on skills must be developed.

 Application of Switching Devices
Each port on a hub is in the same collision domain. Each port on a bridge, a switch or router is in a
separate collision domain.

 Application of Switching Devices
All ports on a hub or a switch are by default in the same broadcast domain. All ports on a router are in the
different broadcast domains and routers don’t forward broadcasts from one broadcast domain to another.
