1
TERMS OF PPC:-

 Production

 Production Planning &

 Production control

2
THREE STAGES IN PPC
FUNCTIONS ARE:-
 Planning- Choosing the best course of
action among several ulternatives.

 Operations-Execution as per plan.

 Control-Maintaining the performance by

comparing the actual results with standards
set and taking corrective action to reduce
variance.
3
CONCEPT OF PPC:-

 PPC essentially consist of planning production

in a manufacturing organization.

 It starts before production activity and

exercising control activities.

 To ensure that the planned production is

released in terms of quantity, quality, delivery
schedule and the cost of production.

4
OBJECTIVE OF PPC:-

 To deliver quality goods

 To ensure maximum utilization of all

resources

 To ensure production of quality products

continue…..

5
-
 To minimise the product manufacturing
cycle time

 To maintain optimum inventory level.

 To maintain flexibility

 To co-ordinate between labour and

machines
continue…

6
-
 To plan for plant capacities for future
requirements.

 To remove problems related to production.

 To ensure effective cost reduction and cost

control.

 To ensure production schedules and promised

delivery dates.
continue…

7
-
 To produce effective result for least total
cost.

 To establish routes and schedules for

work.

 The ultimate objective is to contribute to

the profit of the enterprise.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF PPC:-

Production Planning And Control

Production Control
 Production Planning
Dispatching
Estimating
Progressing
Routing
Inspection
Scheduling
Evaluating and
Loading
Corrective action
9
PRODUCTION PLANNING
FUNCTION:-
 Estimating- Quantity of product
Manpower
Machine capacity
Material required
Production budget
Material budget
Equipment budget
Manpower buget

 Routing-Determining the sequence of

operation.

Route sheet:-Machine & Equipment

Time set up
Quality standard
Specification of raw material
Cutting speed
Inspection procedure
11
Continue…

 Scheduling:- Fixing priorities

Starting & finishing time
Total time
Prevent unbalance
Utilize labour
Product delivery
Minimise total cost
Minimise production time

12
Continue….

 Loading:- Loading is the process of converting

operation schedules into practice.

 Loading of facility means which job to be

assigned to which work centre or machine.

 Loading ensure maximum possible utilization of

productive facilities.

 Avoid bottlenecks in production

13
PRODUCTION CONTROL
FUNCTION:-
 Dispatching:- Send away towards
designated goal-

 Raw material
 Tools
 Machine loading chart
 Route card
 Returning tools to store after use

14
Continue…

 Expediting/Follow up/Progressing:- Expediting ensure

that, the work is carried out as per the plan and delivery
schedules are met.

 Need of expediting-
1- Delay in supply
2- Absenteeism
3- Change and errors in design
4- Break down of machines & tools
