i.e. Medical Doctors, Teachers, Engineers,

relationship skills

Ability to cultivate respect and admiration from


followers

i.e. Heroes, Celebrities, Mass Leaders, Politicians

LEGITIMATE Derived from formal position or office held in the


hierarchy of authority
i.e. Police, President, Teacher,

REWARD Derived from the ability to provide compensation for the


sake of positive outcomes, control, and compliance

The ability to force someone to follow an order
through use of threat, intimidation, sanction, or
punishment to ensure compliance.

i.e. Martial Rule, Nazi’s Fascism, Military Junta

 - military junta is an initiative of the soldiers to run the government when the think civil
society is no longer capable.

- Act confident and decisive
- Keep informed and updated
- Recognize others’ concerns
- Avoid threatening or intimidating others’ self-

- Explain the reason for the request
- Don’t exceed from the scope of the
request and authority
- Follow up to verify compliance
- Insist on compliance if appropriate

- Offer rewards that are fair & ethical
- Don’t promise more than you can deliver
- Explain the criteria of giving reward & keep it
simple
- Provide rewards as promised if requirements
are met
- Don’t use reward in a manipulative fashion

- Ensure people understand the
consequences of violations
- Respond to infractions promptly & without
favoritism
