What is Animation?

Animation is the process of bringing illustrations or inanimate


objects to life through motion pictures.
Types of Animation Style

Traditional Animation
• Each frame of traditional animation
is created individually and run
sequentially for the illusion of
movement.

EX. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) Pinocchio

2D ANIMATION
• It’s more advanced software that
lends its support to traditional
animation.

EX. Looney Tunes , Classic Disney, Little mermaid,


Anime

3D ANIMATION (CGI)
• A whole new way of
creating animation.
• EX. Pixar (Toy Story, Frozen, The Incredibles)
• Dreamworks (Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon)
• Feature Film CGI (the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, the robots in
Transformers, pretty much everything in Avatar)

STOP MOTION
ANIMATION
• made of individual frames, all the frames
are captured by manipulating and
photographing real object. Commonly
known as clay-motion by it can be use with
more and different material to create
motion.

EX. CORALINE, Kubo and the two strings
