“High-achieving staff members want to know that


they are important and that the organization is
headed in the right direction” (Fisher & Frey, 2015).
Coaching: Certified
● Teacher is having issues with behavior and
classroom management, make goal to reduce
maladaptive behaviors.
● Coach and Teacher collaborate and learn about
classroom management strategies
● Teacher begins to implement strategies and track
data. Coach comes and observes progress.
● Both teacher and coach meet again to reflect on
progress made and determine if additional steps
are needed.
Coaching: Classified
● Instructional assistant is having difficulty with
implementing an intervention strategy with a
group of students. Goal is made to implement
intervention with fidelity.
● Instructional assistant meets with coach, learn
about implementing the intervention strategy
● Instructional assistant begins to implement
with established routines and strategies.
● Coach and Instructional assistant then meet to
determine successful implementation or if
additional steps are needed.
Reflection

● Everybody needs and effective coach


● Effective feedback is crucial for growth
● This system is a process of growth and development, not a
product of it.
● Both certified and classified staff may benefit from the
coaching process.
