Summary
There are many tasks here at ALUCOR that require the use of Double eye protection.
(Safety glasses and a Face shield)

• Grinding
• Welding
• Concrete Chipping
• Mixing paints, chemicals and grouts

Each of these tasks has debris that is produced around your immediate work area i.e.
metal slag, grinding and concrete dusts. This debris settles on your work area, your
general PPE, and on your hard hat and face shield.

The following shows us how we can remove our hard hats and face shields to
minimize the chance of getting this debris in our eyes.

Best Practices for face shield removal

• When worn correctly face shields

offer excellent protection from
flying objects and debris.

• But debris and dust can settle on

the brim of your hard hat and
metal or plastic lip of your face
shield.

• Removing this in the correct way

will minimize the chance of this
debris entering your eyes.

For example:
• Objects fall onto it
• It strikes against a fixed object
• It receives a severe impact
• Deep scratches occur
• It is sprayed with chemicals or solvent
based paint
Inspect a hard hat when adjusting and
