What common techniques are you
utilizing in the classroom setting
incorporating assessment as learning?

The common techniques I am utilizing in the classroom

incorporating assessment as learning is through
formative assessments. This can be in a form of a short
Mrs. Rodina R. quiz, or oral question and answer, or anything that allows

students to explain or tell what he or she has learned
throughout the lesson of the day.

assessment?

Self-monitoring is very important in assessment since it

allows the learners to evaluate their progress in their
learning and they will be able to know whether they are
Mrs. Rodina R. progressing or not in the lesson. In this way, they are able

to do adjustments in their studies for them to get back on
track and learn what they have to learn in a specific time.

College of Davao del Sur
What is your definition of
assessment for learning?
Assessment as learning occur when the students
assess their own pace of learning. The student
categorize themselves whether they have learn
Ms.Aiza Almacin, or master the topic or they needed further
LPT
explanation to understand more the topic.

15
What common techniques are you
utilizing in the classroom setting
incorporating assessment as learning?

One technique used the checklist scale they have to

check their learning level from 1 to 5, which is five was the
highest. When they choose 5, it means that they master
Ms.Aiza Almacin, the topic. If they choose 1, you have to provide the
LPT
following question for you to know which part they
struggle with.

How important is self-monitoring in
assessment?

Assessment as learning is crucial because only the

students could know their level of understanding in a

not left behind.

Analysis

18
From the interview, what
have you learned about
assessment as learning?
Assessment in learning is done every after the conduct of testing among the
students. This will be the basis in determining whether the student has
understood the lesson or not. It is the continuous engagement and evaluating
of the person's performance in his learning. Assessment is essential for the
students. Assessment is a critical component of education because it helps
students learn. Assessment can also benefit and motivate students, just as
assessment helps students, and assessment helps teachers.
19
How did the teacher
conduct assessment as learning in his/her class? Do you
think it is effective or
not?
In our interview, each teacher has a different approach in conducting assessment. We summarize it into five:
1. Asking probing questions.
2. Use of graphic organizer.
3. Make formative assessments.
4. Performance tasks relevant to the lessons being learned.
5.Creative Writing to address the objectives or competencies.

All of this are effective as long as the techniques used are aligned with the lessons. All these techniques will help
determine the students understanding and mastery of the subject
20
In the future, what are the
techniques that you will use
based on the interview? Why?
As we reflect on our interview, these things are the techniques that we will use in the future in conducting assessment
1. Asking probing questions.- Probing questions will determine the idea and understanding of the student about
the topic.
2.Use of graphic organizer. - Using graphic organizer will also promote deeper understanding about the topic
3.Make formative assessments. - Making formative assessments are also helpful to the students especially to the
teacher because these will be the basis of the teacher if the students are ready to take
the summative assessments.
4.Performance tasks.- Performance task provide students' need to work more independently and to encourage them
to pay attention to the quality of their work. This also enable the teacher to efficiently provide
students with information on the strengths and weaknesses of students'works.
21
What can you conclude
from the activity?

We can say that teachers varies on their approach on

conducting assessment. But at the end of the day, the goal of
the teacher which is to give a better education for the
students is the most important of all.
