Essentails of a valid consideration

Consideration must be provided at the desire of the promisor

Consideration may move from the promisee or any other person

Consideration maybe an act, abstinence or forbearance or a return promise

Consideration maybe past, present or future

Consideration need not be adequate

Consideration must be real, not illusionary

Consideration must be something if the promisor is not already bound to do

Consideration must not be illegal, immoral or opposed to public policy
