WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?
Global warming is a phenomenon of climate change characterized by a
general increase in average temperatures of the Earth, changing weather
balances & ecosystems for long time. It is directly linked to the increase of
greenhouse gases in atmosphere, worsening the greenhouse effect .

The earth’s atmosphere has always acted like a greenhouse to trap sun’s heat, so
earth has enjoyed temperatures that led to birth of life forms , including humans.
Without atmospheric greenhouse earth would be very cold. Global warming, so

In fact, the average temperature of the planet has increased by 0.8º

Celcius (33.4° Fahrenheit) compared to the end of the 19th century.
Each of the last three decades has been warmer than all previous
decades since the beginning of the statistical surveys in 1850.

At the pace of current CO2 emissions, scientists expect an

increase of between 1.5° and 5.3°C (34.7° to 41.5°F) in average
temperature by 2100. If no action is taken, it would have
harmful consequences to humanity and the biosphere.

The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon. However, the

increase in greenhouse gases is linked to human activities. So, the
world's leading climate scientists believe that human activities are
very likely the main cause of global warming since mid-20 th century
The greenhouse effect is a natural process that warms the
Earth’s surface. When the Sun’s energy reaches the Earth’s
atmosphere, some of it is reflected back to space and
some is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases.

Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous

chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).Of those gases, known as

surface of the Earth. This process maintains the Earth’s
temperature at around 33 degrees Celsius warmer than it
would otherwise be, allowing life on Earth to exist.

The problem we now face is that human activities –

particularly burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas),
agriculture & land clearing – are increasing the concentrations
of greenhouse gases. This is increasing the greenhouse effect,
which is contributing to warming of the Earth.
